Professor Jeff Ollerton is an ecologist, author and consultant with more than 35 years’ experience studying the natural world, particularly plant–pollinator interactions and their importance for biodiversity, food production and society. He has published more than 190 scientific articles and book chapters, and his research has informed national and international initiatives to conserve pollinators and pollination services.

Jeff advises governments, local authorities, conservation organisations, funding bodies and the media on pollinators, biodiversity and environmental change. His books include Pollinators & Pollination: Nature and Society (2021) and Birds & Flowers: An Intimate 50 Million Year Relationship (2024), both published by Pelagic Publishing.

Based in the UK, Jeff has carried out field work across Europe, Africa, Asia, South America and Australia. He received his PhD in pollination ecology from Oxford Brookes University in 1993, and holds Visiting Professor positions at the University of Northampton and the Kunming Institute of Botany. He has also held visiting research and teaching positions at UNICAMP in Brazil, Roskilde University in Denmark, and the University of New South Wales in Australia.
